USHA provides a comprehensive professional development programme for personnel working towards creating successful safety cultures within Universities and related Institutions.
USHA has an outstanding history of facilitating and providing conferences, training courses and seminars which will enable members to gain the necessary knowledge and skills needed.
The professional development programme is tailored to the higher education sector. Each event includes key input from colleagues from across the sector as well as external speakers, culminating in world class advice and guidance.
Our professional development programme is delivered at affordable rates, with added discounts for USHA members. Income generating opportunities are also encouraged through the close working and support of external exhibitors and sponsors.
USHA will support and facilitate health and safety related exhibitions and demonstrations, as well as working with external providers.
USHA works closely with organisations such as IOSH, AUDE, UCEA and IIRSM and through the development of memorandum of understanding has secured reduced rates at external events
Our aims to secure where possible reduced rates for USHA members at other external exhibitions, and members are notified of these discounts.
A suggested list of possible exhibitions and events:

- microbiological safety cabinet fumigation
- portable local exhaust ventilation equipment
USHA organises and delivers various one day seminars. The seminar programme is organised through USHA Central.
Events are applicable not only to safety advisers but also academic and support staff who have an interest within the particular field. USHA also works with partner and external providers in supporting and advertising external safety related seminars.
USHA members are encouraged to participate as speakers and workshop facilitators.
USHA provides a comprehensive range of safety related training courses.
Training course are organised by USHA Central and internal and external partners.
