The Universities Safety and Health Association (USHA) promotes safety and health in higher education ensuring the wellbeing of university staff, students and visitors.

It produces statistical analysis of the sector’s H&S performance, runs events seminars and conferences, and publishes professional standards and guidance documents.

USHA leads the way with consultation and lobbying on national policies on the world stage, and offers members a community of support, knowledge sharing and networking.

Association Objectives

To promote excellent health and safety in higher education, and to:

a) Be a supportive health and safety development resource for the benefit of Higher Education Institutions.

b) Continually develop USHA’s influence as the lead health and safety body in the Higher Education sector.

c) Facilitate the understanding of health and safety by leaders and decision-makers in Higher Education.

d) Support groups that share and develop best practice.

e) Enable delivery of projects that add value.

f) Provide individual support, strategically and operationally.

g) Provide resources, tools and events for members which are both useful and informative.

h) Communicate in an open and honest way with members and stakeholders.

i) Work in partnership with other organisations and associations.

j) Help ensure key risks stay on the health and safety agenda by working with national agencies to drive change where necessary.
