LYNDA COUCH–SMITH, USHA Executive Officer & Development Manager, has experience in the Conference, Tourism, Recruitment, Events and Media sectors with proven success in change management, business development, marketing and creating real competitive edge solutions.
She has worked with businesses and local authorities on PR initiatives, publicity campaigns, event management, conference planning, hotel & leisure development and media training.
As a Hotel proprietor she took on a failing business and turned it round in 18 months. The Hotel was named Small Business of the Year.
Lynda has also served as Vice Chair of the Eastbourne Hospitality Association and local Conference Consortium; acted as an advisor to tourism and marketing events and as a Board member of Momentum has been working towards the regeneration of East Sussex.
Previously Lynda spent 23 years in the media working in journalism, radio production & presentation, marketing, PR and senior Company Management. During that time she turned round ailing commercial radio companies throughout the UK, launched digital stations and was part of the team who successfully bid for the licence to run Classic FM .Her time in UK radio has seen her working alongside Royalty, VIPs, Business Leaders and Pop Stars.
She has received recognition from HRH Prince Charles and the then Prime Minister Tony Blair for community programmes launched in the Midlands and for raising £4m for children’s charities.
In 2011 she was a category winner in the East Sussex Women in Business Awards – best ‘ Business in the Community’.
Lynda took up her post with USHA in 2009 and is responsible for the Associations administration hub ‘USHA Central’. She oversees the association’s accounts, conference and event management, income generation regional and specialist groups, external partnerships, the website and works closely with the Executive Board on strategic development.
In her spare time Lynda loves the theatre, painting watercolours, travel, fine dining and reading.
